Some Tottenham fans were delighted to see Steven Bergwijn put in a Man of the Match performance for the Netherlands in their 2-0 win over Norway last night.
Bergwijn did not have too many opportunities under Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham this season and the winger has not started either of Antonio Conte’s two games in charge against Vitesse Arnhem and Everton.
The former PSV Eindhoven man was not named in the initial Netherlands squad for this round of World Cup qualifiers but was later called up by Louis van Gaal after a few players pulled out with injuries.
The Tottenham man got a start for the Netherlands against Norway yesterday, with the Dutch needing a win to seal qualification to the World Cup.
Bergwijn was by far the best player on the pitch as he constantly troubled the Norwegian backline and created several big chances for his teammates.
It was the Spurs winger who eventually broke the deadlock in the 84th minute with a crisp strike into the top corner before setting up another goal for Memphis Depay in stoppage time.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted to Berwijn’s performance on Tuesday:
Where's all his haters then ay?? how your disrespect is as loud as your praise

Some lovely crosses tonight as well! He's one I really think Conte could do something with. Hopefully not just another good international performance from a Spurs player 🥲

Time for Kane and Bergwijn to step it up at Spurs and replicate this international form now.

Spurs Web Opinion
Bergwijn is arguably the most underrated attacker in the Tottenham squad. Not only does the 24-year-old possess the ability to run at players and go past them but his passing/crossing is also fantastic.
The former PSV man is also tactically disciplined and always works his socks off. I believe he can play in either flank, as a number ten, up-top or could even be converted to a wing-back in Conte’s system.
