Ghana boss makes Antoine Semenyo claim amid rumours he could join Kudus at Tottenham

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has weighed in on the future of Antoine Semenyo, who is continuing to be heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in January.

No player’s future has been the subject of as much speculation over the last few weeks as the Bournemouth star’s has.

The reason for that is simple: we now know that Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract, with Tottenham Hotspur thought to be one of the clubs ready to activate it.

In fact, it has emerged over recent days that Spurs have intensified their pursuit of the Cherries star ahead of the January window.

Ghana head coach sends big hint about Tottenham target Antoine Semenyo

The Black Stars have not qualified for the African Cup of Nations, which kicks off in less than two weeks, which means that Semenyo will continue to be available through December and January.

Ghana boss Otto Addo has now indicated that his star man is ready to take the ‘next step’ after shining at Bournemouth.

When asked about the speculation over Semenyo’s future, Addo told The Athletic: “He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step.

“Whether it’s in the winter or summer, it is a difference question, but it won’t make a difference for us. I’m looking forward to him showing more of what he can to the world.”

Spurs face plenty of competition for Semenyo

While Addo’s words suggest that he does expect the winger to leave Bournemouth, Thomas Frank’s men have their work cut out to win the race for the player.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are behind both Man City and Liverpool in the race for Semenyo’s signature in January.

In fact, some sources have claimed that Spurs are identifying some alternatives to Semenyo as they fear losing out to the likes of Liverpool in the transfer race.
