Gianluca Di Marzio explains current ‘feeling’ at Spurs about Conte’s future

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has told Sky Sport Italia (13/02/23 as relayed by Tutto Juve and SportWitness) that Antonio Conte is now expected to part ways with Tottenham at the end of the season.

Conte’s current contract at Spurs runs out at the end of the season and questions have been raised about the Italian’s future at the club amidst Tottenham’s poor run of form over the last few months (Daily Mail).

Some sources have even suggested that the 53-year-old has decided to return to Italy in the summer as he wants to be closer to his family (The Sun’s Martin Lipton – Off The Ball).

According to Di Marzio’s latest update, the negotiations between Spurs and Conte regarding a new contract have now stalled.

The journalist explains that the feeling at the moment is that there will be a divorce between the parties at the end of the season.

He further adds that while it is too early to say what Conte’s next destination will be, Juventus remain ‘in the background’ for the Spurs head coach.

It seems like it would be in the interest of all parties to cut ties in the summer and head in a new direction.

If a departure in the summer is inevitable for Conte, perhaps it would be in Tottenham’s interest to make a change now and hope that a new manager bounce could get us into the top four.
