Report: Harry Winks asks European side to wait over loan decision

Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has claimed that Harry Winks has asked for more thinking time before deciding whether he wants to join on loan.

The report claims that it appeared last night that a deal was about to be reached, however, Winks has delayed the deal since he expects an offer from a Premier League side to arrive.

Winks was one of four Tottenham players along with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilion who had been excluded from the first team and told they must train on their own and at different times to the rest of the Italian’s squad after he was told that he could only work with a certain number of players (Evening Standard).

The England international has fallen completely out of favour at his boyhood club with Conte preferrring the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and summer signing Yves Bissouma.

Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier today that Valencia are also interested in the 26-year-old.

Winks’ career at Tottenham has stagnated since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino and has failed to impress multiple managers including Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.

The midfielder has looked a shadow of his former self over the past couple of years and needs to get his belief back and show why he was so highly rated following his impressive display against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Sideways and backwards passing became too much of a mainstay in his game, which frustrated the Spurs faithful.
