Gianluca Di Marzio provides update on Antonio Conte’s future at Spurs

Well-respected Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that ‘with certainty’ Antonio Conte will not remain in charge of Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Conte’s current contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires at the end of the current campaign, although Spurs do have the option to trigger a twelve-month extension should they see fit (Football.London).

The Italian appeared to question his own future in north London earlier this week in the wake of the passing of three of his close friends in recent months along with the fact that his wife and daughter still live in Italy (Telegraph).

Di Marzio claims that Tottenham have not consulted Conte over a contract renewal and there is no ‘spark’ between the two parties.

Conte refused to answer a question about his future following the 4-2 defeat at Manchester City on Thursday evening which saw his side throw away a two-goal lead at half time, only to lose 4-2 (talkSPORT).

“The news I can tell you – with certainty is that Antonio Conte will leave Tottenham at the end of the season,” Di Marzio said during his L’Originale’ program on Sky Sport Italy.

“There was no spark; his contract is expiring and the club has not asked him for a renewal.

“The club doesn’t like frequent digs. Conte wants a player to win, while the club prefers trading, the feeling with the club hasn’t started. His family, among other things, has remained in Italy.”
