Gianluca Di Marzio provides Spurs update on Vlahovic – Only Arsenal want him in January

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Tottenham target Dusan Vlahvoic is unlikely to leave Fiorentina during the January transfer window.

Conte is alleged to have asked Tottenham to snap up Vlahovic when the transfer window reopens in January, with some reports suggesting that Spurs would be prepared to put €70m (£59.2m) on the table for the centre-forward.

Corriere della Sera reported this week that the Serbian international is in no hurry to leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium in January as he knows he would have more power to ‘direct the negotiation’ in the summer, with just one year left on his contract.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Di Marzio has seemingly backed up that claim, revealing that Arsenal were the only club to show interest in snapping up Vlahvoic in January.

He revealed that the striker’s entourage made it clear that the player was not open to a move to the Emirates.

Di Marzio suggested that the 21-year-old could be one of the most sought after players in next summer’s transfer window, with Spurs, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund all eyeing a summer deal.

Finally, the journalist also added that the Old Lady have made Vlahvoic their number one priority for next summer.

I believe Tottenham’s biggest chance of beating Juventus to Vlahvoic’s signature would be in the January transfer window, given Juve’s financial owes. However, a summer transfer would not only bring the Serbian’s price down but it would also give him the power to steer negotiations, which I suspect will play into Juve’s hands.
