Gio hoping for Wilson success

Giovani Dos Santos is hoping that Wilson Palacios and his Honduras team join Mexico in qualifying for next year’s World Cup in South Africa.

Honduras face a massive task when they host the USA on Saturday, before travelling to El Salvador on Wednesday.

They currently sit third, behind the USA and Gio’s Mexico and ahead of fourth place Costa Rica. Top three qualify automatically from the group with fourth place playing-off against fifth place in the South American qualifying group, potentially Argentina.

And Gio told the Spurs Official Website that he hopes his team-mate will be joining him in South Africa next summer.

“I hope Wilson makes it. He’s my friend and I want the best for him.

“Honduras have some very good players. They have been doing well in the qualification and they need four points from their two games to make it to the World Cup.

“They can do it, but they have two difficult games and the first one is against the USA. That will be a massive game, but if they win it, i think they will be in the World Cup

“Wilson is a big player for them and if Honduras make it to South Africa I will be so happy for him.”

Mexico need slightly less to qualify, only requiring one victory from their final two games against bottom sides El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago, but Giovani will be forced to miss out with an ankle injury he picked up in Spurs’ match against Preston.
