Giovani Dos Santos

Tottenham’s forgotten man Giovani dos Santos is being linked with a move to Real Zaragoza.

The Mexican playmaker has failed to break into the Spurs side despite an impressive World Cup and reports claim that he could move to Spain on loan in January.

“Gio could be a very important part of my plans,” said Depor coach Javier Aguirre in the Spanish media.

Dos Santos said: “It depends on Spurs. I wanted to play more, but that’s the manager’s decision.”

  1. I personally rate Dos Santos as a great player who with first team opportunities could turn out to be a top player amongst the top players in Europe. But with our squad playing the way they are its hard for most players to get in the first team squad. I don’t think we should get rid of him but start using him as a sub and even giving him a first team role against Charlton to see how well he plays. He did great at the World Cup, and last season he had a good spell at Ipswich. All he needs is the opportunity to prove himself.

  2. I think Dos Santos will do well for us if we let him play free-role. He has got great talent but somehow lacking the confidence when he plays for Spurs, unlilke when he plays for Mexico.

  3. I also agree with Mark, however trust Harry’s judgement. He must train everyday and for whatever reason Harry doesnt rate him as highly as us.

  4. i think that gio had the miss fortune of never change a winning team.all the midfilders are doing well so it is allways difficult for the caoch to put him on.may be he needs to wait for this season till summer.may he gets his real chance and he takes it like bale, hutton and kaboul.they all where just sub players but now they show what great proffacianals are.

  5. Gio has not played for us in a year.

What is the point of another year for Gio getting splinters on our bench or yet another loan?

Can’t we just admit that we bought a bad un and move him on to free up a place in the squad and save on the wages?

Otherwise it looks like a question of egos getting in the way of common sense.

  6. problem is, spurs have never played him in his more successful forward position and always put him wide right, and then wonder why he doesn’t play to his potential. give him a run as a striker or cf and see how he does…

  7. sell him now. he doesnt fit our system. and if he cant get a game with all the injuries we've had, he is obviously not considered good enough. and he has proved that consistently whenever he has had a chance.

  8. I don’t think Gio not playing has anything to do with his ability. He’s clearly very talented and Harry likes him as a player. But there is clearly something going on behind the scenes. Some of the things Harry has said, ‘If he could pass a nightclub as well as he can pass a ball’, ‘I think he’s fit, I think he’s still here’.

This shows an attitude, application problem. If Gio gets his head down and works hard then he may get some playing time. Harry is famous for giving some of our players on the way out a second chance. Bale/Pav/Hutton?
