Giovani Lo Celso scores stunning solo goal that will make Tottenham fans sigh

Former Lilywhite midfielder Giovani Lo Celso just scored a stunning solo goal that will frustrate Tottenham fans, with Spurs struggling for creativity in the crucial season run-in.

Indeed, Tottenham Hotspur have not lacked goals this season, finding the net 63 times in the Premier League.

However, the recent injury to James Maddison has raised fresh concerns about where their creative spark will come from in the final stretch.

Maddison has been central to Ange Postecoglou’s setup, registering 10 assists and 12 goals across all competitions, pulling the strings in midfield with composure and class.

But, with Maddison ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, questions naturally arise about who might step up and fill the creative void in a side chasing silverware on the European front.

Giovani Lo Celso scores stunner as former Tottenham man shines

While Spurs prepare to battle through a critical stretch without their chief creator, one of their former midfielders has reminded fans of what might have been, with a moment of individual brilliance that has drawn attention back to Spain.

Giovani Lo Celso struck a sublime solo goal for Real Betis in the 85th minute against Espanyol, gliding past defenders with ease before finishing coolly past Joan Garcia to level the match.

The Argentine’s strike sparked a late surge, with Antony bagging a late winner in stoppage time to keep Real Betis’ hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League alive.

Stats highlight Lo Celso’s improvement since Tottenham exit

Of course, Lo Celso has always had technical ability, but he rarely displayed it with consistency during his stint in north London.

Across 108 appearances for Tottenham, the Argentine midfielder managed just 10 goals and eight assists – a modest return that never quite justified the early hype.

Now at Real Betis, he appears to be rediscovering his best form, having already scored nine goals in just 29 matches this season – a tally that nearly matches his entire output at Spurs.

With James Maddison sidelined, Tottenham will need the rest of the squad to share the creative load, and much of that responsibility will likely fall to Dejan Kulusevski, who has shown flashes of quality this season but has struggled for consistency in recent weeks.
