Tottenham’s summer signing Giovani Lo Celso was handed his first start of the campaign by Mauricio Pochettino against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday and the former PSG man grabbed the oppurtunity with both hands.
Lo Celso was a constant threat for the hosts’ backline throughout the game as he got into some great positions and played some classy through balls.
He won the ball back impressively in midfield midway into the first half and played Harry Kane through on goal before arriving late into the box and finishing the move himself after some pinball in the box.
His influence on the encounter grew as the game went on and the Argentine showed exactly what the Lilywhites have been missing going forward.
Apart from showing his quality on the ball, the midfielder also worked hard whilst not in posession to close down the opposition.
He took to social media after the match to send the following message to the fans:
Feliz por el primer gol con esta camiseta . Y muy feliz por la victoria del equipo 👍🏼⚽️ Happy to score my first goal on this shirt and to get the win 👍🏼⚽️ pic.twitter.com/dNzVAN0Ys3

Spurs Web Opinion
The difference between Eriksen’s recent displays and Lo Celso’s showing against Red Star was night and day. Of all the midfield combinations we have seen so far this campaign, I believe the one we saw on Wednesday with Ndombele and Sissoko holding and Lo Celso, Dele and Sonny in a three behind Kane, is the one that has worked the best.
