‘Give Kane my ankle’ – Some Spurs fans react to the Champions League semi-final first leg

Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Ajax to the new stadium last night, as they looked to make the most of their home advantage in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Unfortunately, after a sluggish start, Spurs found themselves behind after just 15 minutes, with Donny Van de Beek breaking the deadlock.

Ajax were controlling the game with effortless one-touch football, carving open the Tottenham press and getting in behind time and time again.

After weathering a 25-minute storm, and changing their shape to a 4-4-2 with Vertonghen at left back and Rose in central midfield, Tottenham finally grew into the game.

They only improved further when Moussa Sissoko entered the game to replace the concussed Vertonghen.

Spurs went on to dominate the second half, and played well up until the final third, where they found it tricky to convert pressure into chances and goals.

Tottenham will now have to put in a big shift away to Ajax next week if they are to stand a chance of making the Champions League final.

Here’s what some Spurs fans thought of the match:
