Some Spurs fans are in disbelief that the North Londoners have actually managed to secure a decent back up to Harry Kane after Benfica officially confirmed that Carlos Vinicius will be joining Tottenham on a season-long loan deal.
Tottenham have been one of the most proactive teams in the Premier League so far this transfer window, managing to secure the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale.
However, the club still had not addressed the striker situation which had been a long-standing problem since Fernando Llorente left last summer.
The Sun claimed last week that Jose Mourinho was becoming increasingly frustrated at the club’s inability to bring in a centre-forward.
However, reports emerged on Wednesday that Spurs had reached a breakthrough in their negotiations with Benfica for Vinicius, who was said to be Mourinho’s number one target (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold).
Fabrizio Romano has now relayed the official announcement from the Portuguese club on agreeing to loan the Brazilian to Spurs, with the Lilywhites having an option to buy for €45million(£40.38million).
Some fans could not believe that the club had finally secured a striker and hailed Daniel Levy for backing Mourinho as much as he has this window.
It took fourteen months but Spurs finally have a second striker in their squad.
And Jose gets to test-run his first-choice striker.
Skriniar still possible?

Spurs Web Opinion
With reports indicating that the likes of Doherty and Hojbjerg, like Vinicius, were also Mourinho’s first-choice targets, it looks like Levy has really delivered in terms of giving the Spurs boss the exact tools he wanted to work with. If we can get a deal for Skriniar over the line before Monday’s deadline, the least that will be expected of Jose is to deliver a top-three finish and a trophy this season.
