‘Glad he’s not coming’ – Rock star takes sly dig at Harry Kane after Spurs U-turn

Liam Gallagher has aimed a dig at Harry Kane after the forward announced he will be staying at Tottenham this summer, bringing a brief end to a long transfer saga.

Kane had been pushing for a move to last season’s Premier League champions for a number of months, but confirmed on social media he will be staying in North London after a move failed to materialise.

The 28-year-old returned to action under Nuno Espirito Santo last weekend against Wolves where he received a rousing reception from the travelling Spurs supporters.

Kane brought an end to this summer’s speculation on Wednesday, saying: “It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success.”

The statement was quickly pounced upon by former Oasis member and controversial Man City fan Gallagher, who aimed a dig at the England captain and the decision to remain in the capital, for now at least.

While the speculation over Kane’s future will have come to what is a brief conclusion, it is good for everyone around the club in that all focus can shift back onto performances on the pitch. Kane will no doubt get back to knuckling down and helping the team as best he can, as he has always done.
