Gleison Bremer admits he will leave Torino summer amidst Tottenham links

Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer, who is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar, has admitted that he expects to leave the Serie A club this summer.

According to reports, Antonio Conte wants to bring in two centre-backs this summer, with Bremer said to be one of the names on the Italian’s wishlist (Football.London).

The Brazilian’s stock has risen considerably on the back of his solid displays for Torino over the last couple of years, and the defender is also thought to be attracting interest from both Inter Milan (Evening Standard) and Napoli (TG Sport Morning of RAI show via InsideFutbol).

Torino Granata reported last week that despite Inter’s interest in the centre-back, Torino were waiting for Tottenham to launch an offer for the 25-year-old.

Bremer has now confirmed that his future lies away from Turin, and admitted he wants to play in the Champions League in order to force himself into the Seleçao set-up ahead of the World Cup in November.

The centre-back told ESPN Brazil: “I told the coach and the management [last summer] ‘I want to change now’. So they told me: ‘Stay this year, help us. Next year you can take the next step’.

“The fans already know that I have this desire to play in the Champions League, to go there to earn a call-up to the Brazilian national team.

“I need to play at a much better level, so I think it’s a matter of time. I’m analysing some proposals, but I think that next season I will no longer play for Torino.”

Spurs should have no difficulties financially outmuscling the likes of Inter and Napoli in the race for Bremer. The only advantage that those clubs might have is perhaps the 25-year-old’s reluctance to take a risk by switching to a new league during a World Cup year.
