Glenn Hoddle names Tottenham player who had opponent ‘on toast’ in Champions League win

Tottenham Hotspur comfortably defeated Slavia Prague in the Champions League, and Glenn Hoddle was particularly impressed by one player.

Tottenham Hotspur have continued a winning run at home in the Champions League with a decisive 3-0 victory over Slavia Prague.

Spurs forced an own goal from David Zima in the first half, before Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons each scored a penalty later in the game to collect three important points.

Thanks to a well-earned win, Tottenham are continuing to pile pressure on the top eight of the league phase, sitting just one point below eighth-placed Liverpool.

Glenn Hoddle was impressed by Mohammed Kudus during Tottenham’s victory

Hoddle was happy with his old team’s performance on Tuesday night and was especially pleased by Kudus, whom he has praised for his versatility.

The pundit has even claimed that Kudus has been Tottenham’s most creative player this season, and it is hard to make an argument against him.

Hoddle told TNT Sports: “He’s great when he’s faced up against a defender.

“He can play with his back to play. He can turn quickly even if he’s marked tightly, but also when he’s faced up, and in the first half, he had Zima on toast. He has a change of pace, and I think he’s been our most creative player all season.”

Owen Hargreaves concurred, adding: “Right now I think he’s their best player. Just give him the ball anywhere on the pitch, and he gets you up the pitch.”

Kudus is racking up the goal contributions at Spurs

One presenter recently said Tottenham had not seen the best of Kudus, but this is not a fair comment based on his performances for the club up to this point.

Kudus did have a few games where he struggled to reach his usual standards, but on the whole, he has been excellent for Spurs.

The Ghanian winger now has three goals and six assists across all competitions this season, and these numbers will have risen a lot by the end of the campaign if he remains consistent.
