Glenn Hoddle pinpoints exactly what Spurs need to do in the transfer market

Glenn Hoddle believes that Tottenham Hotspur must still look to strengthen their squad during the current transfer window.

Spurs have only brought in Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and Jack Clarke from Leeds United with the latter being loaned back to his former side for the duration of the upcoming season.

With the transfer window closing at 5pm on Thursday for English clubs, time is certainly ticking for Spurs to get any more deals over the line ahead of the new Premier League season.

Hoddle has identified the requirement for a creative midfielder and another defender to be recruited by the North London club.

Spurs have been heavily linked with both Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso and Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes who could both add a spark to the attacking element of the midfield (Daily Express).

There are concerns about the future of Christian Eriksen with Manchester United now said to be keen on signing the Dane ahead of Thursday which would leave Mauricio Pochettino severely lacking a creative element to his side.

Hoddle told the Daily Express: “He is going to have to get a good defender in, he needs midfielders, on of them who’s creative.”

The former Spurs boss admitted that it is difficult for the club to try and find the best midfielders as they have already been snapped up, he added: “That’s the problem,”

“There are no midfielders out there, and I’ve looked.

“Man City have got them all or Barcelona have got them.

“Even Real Madrid haven’t got them.”

Opinion

Hoddle is spot on with his assessment of our requirements ahead of the window closing. If Daniel Levy fails to deliver with any more signings it will no doubt cause the Spurs fanbase to be hugely negative about our chances for the upcoming campaign.
