According to a report in The Mirror, new Tottenham head Jose Mourinho wants the club to bring in Roma striker Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window.
The report claims that Mourinho considers Dzeko as an ideal back up to star forward Harry Kane and believes the capture of the former Manchester City player would act as an insurance policy for the England captain.
It is suggested that Spurs sent scouts to watch Dzeko in action over the weekend. The Bosnian international has been in fine form this season having netted eight goals in nineteen appearances so far this campaign (transfermarkt).
Some Spurs fans, however, weren’t overly excited about the speculation with a few claiming they would rather see 17-year-old Troy Parrott get more opportunities.
Others meanwhile insisted that the former Manchester City man would be a good option to have for the short term despite coming into the twilight of his career at 33.

I mean not a bad rotation option. Parrott still has a ways to go and Dzecko has plenty of experience in PL and European competition

He’s starting regularly on a top four Serie A side, why would he want to be a backup striker here? ?

Spurs Web Opinion
Dzeko does seem like a typical Mourinho signing with his experience and winning mentality. I would be in favour of bringing him in as I do not expect Parrott to get regular game time at least for another year or so. However, it is difficult to see the club spending big money on a 33-year-old.
