‘Go get him’ Teddy Sheringham names the side who should be signing Harry Kane

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward believes that Manchester United should be looking to go all out to sign Harry Kane.

The future of the striker in North London has been the subject of intense speculation in the media since Sky Sports claimed yesterday evening that he has once again made his feelings clear that he wishes to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The Athletic reported that while Kane believes he has a gentleman’s agreement with chairman Daniel Levy following his decision to reject an offer from Manchester City last summer, Levy is not prepared to entertain the prospect of losing his star man.

Sheringham, who swapped Tottenham for Manchester United in 1997 after he handed in a transfer request (Irish Times) claimed that his former side would be signing the best number nine in the world, despite Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland having shown so much potential for a 20-year-old.

He told bookmakers.co.uk: “From a Manchester United point of view, if you can get him, then go get him.

“You’re talking about Harry Kane.

“He is the top No9 in the world for me. People talk about [Erling] Haaland who is a very good youngster coming through with unbelievable promise, but Harry Kane is the best number nine in the world.

“From a Manchester United point of view, if you can get him, then go get him.

“Tottenham supporters won’t want to hear that, but they’ve heard it for the last three years – Harry Kane is a big money player, he’s the best and everybody wants him.”
