‘God loves patience’ – Spurs defender yet to play this season takes to Instagram

Serge Aurier has taken to Instagram with a cryptic post as he still waits to make his first appearance of the season.

The Ivory Coast international was not part of Tottenham’s match day squad for the win against Manchester City on Sunday and was left out of Tottenham’s 25-man Europa Conference League squad for their play-off tie against Pacos de Ferreira (The Athletic).

Academy graduate Japhet Tanganga started against City and was replaced late in the game by Matt Doherty, who has made the trip to the Estadio da Mata Real.

Aurier posted a photo of himself on the social media platform along with the caption ‘God loves patience so we are in no rush.’

The right-back is within the last twelve months of his contract in North London and has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks with AC Milan having been credited with interest (CalicioMercato).

Aurier’s contract situation means that Spurs need to cash in on him before the end of the month, or risk him signing a pre-contract agreement in January with an overseas club, ahead of walking away for free next summer.
