Gomes holds hands up to mistake

Heurelho Gomes has claimed that Ronaldo’s shot moved in the air after the Spurs keeper fumbled the ball into the net to give Real Madrid a 1-0 win.

Gomes accepts that it was his mistake and wants to put it behind him and help Tottenham to qualify for the Champions League again.

“The ball moved a little bit but it was a mistake and I accept it,” Gomes said.

“This was not my first mistake and I know it will not be the last one in my career, but I need to show character like I did before.

“I know I was so important for the club and I need to move on because they need me. We have a lot of big games coming up and I need to recover quick.

“It was a difficult moment for me but I have to look forward because I know how important that is for the team.”

He added: “The dream is over but we will still keep going to make sure we get a place in next year’s competition.

“There are a lot of big games coming up and we need to look forward to those games. This season is not over yet.”
