Radu Dragusin is a Tottenham Hotspur player now, but a week ago that eventuality didn’t seem like it would transpire. Now, the player has revealed why he turned down Bayern Munich to join Spurs.
Tottenham were in desperate need of a new centre-back heading into the January transfer window, and Radu Dragusin quickly emerged as the Lilywhites’ top target.
All appeared to be going smoothly when the player agreed to personal terms with Spurs early in the month, but with negotiations dragging on, other clubs entered the race for the 21-year-old.
Despite interest from Napoli, AC Milan, and most notably, Bayern Munich, Dragusin is thought to have opted for the move to Spurs based on how much the club and the manager, Ange Postecoglou, made him feel wanted(GSP via Sport Witness).
Postecoglou has already spoken of the conversations he had with Dragusin prior to the switch, and how he told the player how he would fit into the Spurs project (Football.London).

Why did Radu Dragusin reject Bayern Munich?
Now, Dragusin himself has finally opened up on the reported rejection of the Bundesliga champions, and why he chose to join Tottenham.
He told The Athletic: “Yes, that is right [I rejected Bayern]. I chose Tottenham because I felt it was the right step for me and I had a really good conversation with the coach.
“I saw that they wanted me from a long time ago, like one month before the transfer window, so I thought this is the right choice for me.
“My dream was to play in the Premier League, so that was part of it. I think the team here, the guys here, are on a good trajectory. I felt joining them can help me a lot.”
Spurs Web Opinion
The pull of the Premier League, combined with Ange Postecoglou’s appeal and approach to the project he is building at Spurs, was always likely to sway Dragusin, as it has many players already. I can’t wait to see Dragusin develop at this club.
