‘Good enough to win trophies’ – Tottenham star makes confident claim

Tottenham Hotspur are currently without a trophy in over a decade, with their last coming against Chelsea in the final of the Carling Cup, 2007/08.

Spurs were always known as the cup team back in the day, but now apparently both league and cup titles prove illusive for the North London outfit.

Tottenham were knocked out of the Champions League after leading Juventus well into the second leg last season, while also throwing away a lead to United in the FA Cup final.

Twice out of the last three seasons, Spurs have been the ones to ‘put the pressure’ on the eventual champions, without liftin the Premier League trophy themselves.

So, where are they going wrong? Is it mentality? Confidence? Or just luck needed?

Tottenham right back Serge Aurier believes they have everything they need at the club to win trophies.

Aurier told Football London: “The team is good enough to win trophies, look at the squad, look at the players. It’s big you know? We have good strikers, midfielders and defence. Now it’s about belief.

“Just believe and go. Last season we lost the semi-final against United and afterwards I saw the players and they were so sad because they wanted to win, but don’t stop. I believe in this team because it has so much quality. We just need to believe.”

Is Aurier right? Can Spurs win something soon? Could this year be the year to finally end the 10 year wait?
