Guglielmo Vicario has been a welcome addition to the Tottenham team and he has been speaking about who within the dressing room he is most friendly with.
The goalkeeper arrived in North London during the summer from Serie A outfit Empoli and has firmly established himself within the Tottenham first-team squad having replaced Hugo Lloris as the club’s number-one goalkeeper.
Vicario has not been shy in showing the more fiery side to his character having clashed with more than one opponent, including Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson, who accused the keeper after Tottenham’s 4-1 win over the Magpies in December of showing a ‘lack of respect’ and ‘pulling faces’ at him (Sky Sports).
Vicario and van de Ven are friends off the pitch
The 27-year-old has been revealing in an interview with the club that he is probably the closest to fellow summer signing Micky van de Ven when it comes to friends within the dressing room.
He also name-dropped his compatriot Destiny Udogie along with Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur and Manor Solomon as some of his other friends.
During the interview with the club’s official YouTube channel , Vicario was asked: “Who are you tight with in the group, I know you’re popular and you speak to everyone, but who are you closest with?”

To which he replied: “I have a good feeling with Micky. He’s a good lad, a very good guy for me. I try to speak with him and we try to help each other. We try to spend a lot of time together with Manor Solomon, Destiny, Cuti, Rodrigo and everyone, we are a big group with good feelings.”

Given the fact that van de Ven plays just in front of Vicario, it probably makes sense that the pair have forged a good friendship off the pitch.
The current squad give the impression that they are very tight-knit with very few cliques, Ange Postecoglou likes to recruit players who are not just technically sound, but also have good character and this rings true of the present crop.
