‘Good news’ – Antonio Conte reveals injured Spurs star is back in training

Antonio Conte has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso is back in training after recovering from his knee problem.

Tottenham were due to play Leicester City this evening in the Premier League but that fixture is now expected to be postponed.

Lo Celso and Cristian Romero both picked up injuries while on international duty with Argentina last month and have not featured for Tottenham since, with the centre-back expected to be out of action until at least January with a hamstring injury.

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Sergio Reguilon was also a doubt for the clash at the King Power Stadium, having not returned to training after coming off with a thigh problem in Spurs’ 3-0 win over Norwich.

However, Conte revealed that Romero is the only Spurs first-team player who remains out with an injury, revealing that Lo Celso has been training since Sunday.

The Tottenham head coach told Football.London: “No, no injuries [apart from] Romero, and the good news is that Giovani Lo Celso is available and he started to train with us from Sunday.

“Now we have only Romero injured and we hope for Cristian to recover very soon. You know that injury is a serious injury and I understand also the frustration of the player, that he doesn’t have the opportunity to play but Cristian has to be calm and to recover in the right way because we need him.”

With the fixture schedule as it is, and a number of players out with COVID, having Lo Celso back will be a welcomed boost for Antonio Conte. It is now just a matter of when Spurs will actually be able to play again.
