Good news for Spurs fans as midfielder set to return sooner than thought

While Kane’s ankle injury has dominated the headlines for the last two days, a more pressing issue for Tottenham at the moment is the lack of options in central midfield.

With Eric Dier and Victory Wanyama both sidelined and Dembele nearing a move to China, Pochettino has been forced to field Sissoko and Winks in almost every game.

Unfortunately, Sissoko also went off injured in the first half against Manchester United with a groin injury forcing Pochettino to push Eriksen further back. This leaves Tottenham with Harry Winks as the only fit center midfielder apart from youngsters like Oliver Skipp and Luke Amos.

Thankfully for Spurs fans, BBC journalist James Burford reports that Pochettino has confirmed that Sissoko will only miss the game against Fulham and this weekend and is expected to be back in time for the 2md leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal next Thursday.

James Burford tweeted this from official Twitter handle:

This certainly comes as great news as Sissoko has been one of Spurs’ stand out players this season, fitting in perfectly on the right-hand side of the midfield diamond Spurs have employed.
