After Tottenham fell to their third successive defeat in a row against Bournemouth on Saturday, it looked as if the Lilywhites could be in danger of missing out on a top four spot in the Premier League.

However, Spurs’ rivals stumbled on Sunday as Huddersfield held Manchester United to a draw, making it three horse race for the two remaining spots.

Arsenal then failed to beat Brighton at home as they were held to a 1-1 draw, thanks to a second-half penalty from Glenn Murray.

This means that unless the Gunners can overcome an 8 goal deficit in goal difference with Spurs on the final matchday, the fourth spot is guaranteed for Pochettino’s men.

So barring a miracle, Tottenham are set to finish above the Gunners for the third season in a row.

Some Spurs fans on social media took the opportunity to rub it in the faces of their North London rivals.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are quite lucky to be able to consolidate a top 4 spot as their form in the league has been quite poor lately.

However, all will be forgotten now as Spurs can now go full force against Ajax on Wednesday, in what will be one of the biggest games in the club’s history.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Once again drastic over reactions by Spurs fans. A horrendous year of football? Really we accumulated 70 points In the league with a game to play. Enough points almost every single year to qualify and about the same amount we accumulated the last 3 seasons all of which were viewed as successful and a champions league semi- (and possibly final or even champ possible however unlikely) and a league cup semi. Yes the last 6 weeks have been disappointing but considering everything mo Po and Tottenham have performed valiantly get a freaking grip.
