‘Goosebumps’ – England kit man reveals what Harry Kane did before win over Germany

England kit man Pat Frost has taken to Twitter to reveal the pivotal role which Harry Kane played in the dressing room ahead of their game against Germany yesterday evening.

The Three Lions had not beaten Germany in a major tournament since 1966 but managed to end the hoodoo with two second half goals.

After Raheem Sterling had broken the deadlock in the 75th minute, Kane was on hand just four minutes from time to ensure the victory when he nodded in Jack Grealish’s cross from close range.

Frost, who was previously the kit man of West Bromwich Albion before joining Gareth Southgate’s set-up in 2018 (The Athletic) admitted that he was left with goosebumps after Kane gave a 30-second speech to his England team-mates prior to taking to the field at Wembley which left him convinced that they would win the match.

With Hugo Lloris having been Tottenham’s long-serving club captain, Kane has rarely had the opportunity to wear the armband for his club side.

It would have been the natural choice for Kane to take up the mantle if Lloris left, however with the forward said to want to depart North London it could be unlikely that he would be given the opportunity on a permanent basis in the near future.
