‘Got a good chance’ – Jack Wilshere raves about how Spurs look under Jose Mourinho

Former Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere has admitted that he has been impressed with  Tottenham this season and claimed that the Lilywhites have a good chance of going all the way.

Wilshere’s beloved Arsenal are struggling to score this year and are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are sitting at the top of the league, boasting the best defensive record in the competition and having scored the second-highest number of goals.

Speaking about Spurs, Wilshere told former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend on The ITV Football Football Show: “A lot of my family are Tottenham fans and I actually enjoy watching Tottenham play under Jose, especially this season.

“I think Jose is a fantastic manager, a fantastic coach. If anyone is going to do it with Tottenham, it’s going to be Jose, let’s be honest.

“They do really strong. They’ve obviously bought in Bale. They got Son and Kane up top. That’s got to be three of the best forwards in the league.

“I feel as well that they’ve improved massively defensively, which they were always going to do under Jose. And their midfield is strong as well. So, they’ve got a good chance.”

The former Arsenal man also spoke about the difficulty of dealing with criticism from fans and media while coming through as a young player.

When he mentioned that he received a lot of stick from Tottenham fans, Townsend suggested that the former England midfielder deserved the criticism after what he said about Spurs following Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph in 2014.

“You know what, it used to make me angry,” Wilshere said. “I know for example Tottenham fans are always going to have that banter with me.”

Townsend interjected: “I’ve got to say you deserve that from what you said after the FA Cup!”

“I can take that,” Wilshere added. “But it was the silly articles from certain journalists that used to wind me up. But now I feel I’m mentally strong to deal with the social media side of things.”
