‘Got back a good one’ – Spurs star reacts to Kieran Trippier returning to Premier League

Eric Dier has taken to social media to express his delight at Kieran Trippier’s return to the Premier League after Newcastle United confirmed the signing of the former Spurs right-back on Friday.

Trippier spent five seasons at Tottenham after arriving from Burnley in the summer of 2015.

After initially playing second fiddle to Kyle Walker in his first two seasons in North London, Trippier made the right-back spot his own in his next three seasons at the club, being part of the side that reached the Champions League final under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019.

After leaving Spurs for Atletico Madrid in 2019, the 31-year-old played a valued part in the La Liga club’s title historic triumph last season.

The England international has now become Newcastle’s first signing under the new ownership, with Magpies boss Eddie Howe expressing his delight at being able to welcome the former Spurs man to the North East.

Here’s how Dier reacted to his former Tottenham teammate making the move to St James’ Park:

Spurs Web Opinion

I am delighted to see Trippier back in the Premier League as I always had a soft spot for him during his time at Spurs.

It is a good move for the 31-year-old and I see him being the Magpies’ starting right-back for the next three to four years.

Given that he was never blessed with great pace or athleticism, I do not expect him to decline as a player until his mid-thirties.
