Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent believes that Jose Mourinho could have trouble keeping the likes of Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius happy given the number of attacking options he has at his disposal.
Due to Tottenham’s busy schedule, almost all of the attacking players in the squad other than Dele Alli have been handed plenty of minutes so far this season.
With Erik Lamela recovering from an injury and Gareth Bale starting two of Wales’ Nations League clashes in quick succession during the international break, Mourinho chose to start Steven Bergwijn against Man City and bought Moura off the bench for the final 20 minutes.
Bent believes that it is only a matter of time before Bale gets his sharpness back and starts playing regularly.
The former England man suggested that the likes of Moura could get frustrated due to the lack of minutes as the season wears on.
The pundit told Football Insider: “That front three now, Bale’s only going to get better, surely, and with Kane and Son and Bale, you sort of fear for the likes of Lucas Moura.
“He must be looking and thinking: ‘Wow, it’s got even worse now for me.’

“He’ll still be coming on, he’ll still be contributing, for sure, and Vinicius, what will we see of him as well?”

I certainly see Moura continuing to get minutes off the bench even if he does not start matches. Jose seems to trust him, especially in big matches as the Brazilian can be counted upon to work his socks off and do the job that is asked of him off the ball. However, Bergwijn also proved on Saturday that he is no slouch defensively and that he has a great engine on him. It might just come down to one or the other as the season wears on and I suspect one of Bergwijn or Lucas will leave the club at the end of the season.
