Graham Roberts highlights what Spurs must learn from following Liverpool loss

Graham Roberts has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur should have been out of sight against Liverpool given the chances they had in the second half.

Although Liverpool dominated possession and were the side on the front foot for the majority of the encounter, Tottenham had the better chances during the game.

Mourinho claimed after the match that the better team had lost and rued the fact that his players missed big chances in the second half to take the lead.

Liverpool, who had not looked particularly threatening during set-pieces and crosses into the box for the majority of the encounter, delivered Mourinho’s men a late sucker punch as Roberto Firmino rose to thump home a header.

While Tottenham’s defending has improved substantially over the last couple of months, their ability to deal with set-pieces continues to remain a problem.

Roberts insisted that the team must learn not to give away cheap free kicks or corners late in games.

Bergwijn did almost everything right with his effort and was unlucky to hit the post. Kane would have buried that header 99 times out of a 100 and it would have, no doubt, been a different game had we got our noses ahead. However, there are certainly plenty of positives to take from that performance.
