Graham Roberts hits back at Liverpool legend’s comments on Harry Kane

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has disagreed with John Barnes’ criticism of Harry Kane and insisted that the striker is one of the most professional players he has come across.

Responding to Kane’s comments last month about potentially quitting Tottenham if the team was not moving in the right direction, Barnes accused the 26-year-old of trying to pressure the club into giving him a better contract (BonusCodeBets via the Express).

The former Liverpool midfielder felt that the striker should be focused on helping Spurs win trophies and insisted that his comments are a way of ridding himself of the blame for the club’s recent lack of success.

Roberts, however, claimed that he knew the England captain well and that Barnes’ accusations couldn’t be further from the truth.

The former Tottenham defender said that there was nothing more Kane would like than to win trophies at Spurs.

Roberts took to social media to post the following series of tweets:

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Kane is clearly one of the best strikers in the world, it is only natural that he wants to win major trophies before he retires. I personally didn’t mind him putting pressure on Levy to show ambition even though I agree with Roberts that Kane isn’t one to force a move away and that there is nothing more he would love than to win trophies at Tottenham.
