Graham Roberts lauds player for “sensational” performance against Newcastle

Tottenham overcame Newcastle 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of a late strike by Son Heung-Min.

The win took Spurs to second place in the table ahead of Machester City who take on Arsenal tomorrow and just four points behind league leaders Liverpool, who travel to West Ham on Monday night.

While Son took home the man of the match award for his winner, one player who had an exceptional game was midfielder Harry Winks.

Winks who turned 23 today, ensured that Spurs had complete control of the midfield and also made several foraging runs into the final third.

Tottenham legend Graham Roberts took to Twitter to express his delight at the result at singled out Winks for his “sensational” performance. The former defender also congratulated Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez on their defensive displays.

While Vertonghen put in a solid performance even though he played most of the game at left back, Sanchez marshaled Salomon Rondon effectively throughout the game.
