Graham Roberts makes confident claim about Harry Kane after goal at Brighton

Graham Roberts has backed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to continue to break goalscoring records.

The 28-year-old was led the line for Spurs in their Premier League clash against Brighton last night and experienced a difficult first half by his own standards when he missed an open goal and also lost the ball on a number of occasions.

In typical fashion, after the break it didn’t take him long to rediscover his form when he found the back of the net after being played through on goal by Rodrigo Bentancur to finish neatly with his left foot.

The goal saw the Spurs man take his tally to 95 goals in 139 appearances away from home in the Premier League, becoming the competition’s all-time top scorer in away games despite making 104 fewer such appearances than second-place Wayne Rooney (Super Sport).

Roberts took to Twitter following the 2-0 win at the Amex to tip Kane to beat Jimmy Greaves’ all-time Spurs record, and also go on to beat the Premier League record held by former Newcastle forward Alan Shearer.

Arguably, the easiest of the three records to break will be Wayne Rooney’s England record with Kane needing just six goals to surpass the former Manchester United player.

Kane will comfortably surpass Jimmy Greaves’ record if he decides to remain at Tottenham which is the age-old question. Hopefully, he can lead the club to a top four finish this season which will play a significant part in helping him to decide where his future lies.
