Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has praised the team’s display against Liverpool despite coming away with nothing from the game.
While the league leaders dominated the first half, the Lilywhites gave a great account of themselves after half time and squandered some gilt-edged chances to equalize.
In stark contrast to performances over recent weeks, Tottenham’s defence held up resolutely for the majority of the game with Jose Mourinho claiming after the match that his players deserved something to show for their efforts (Football.London)
Roberts insisted that he was proud of the players for their performance and that they couldn’t have done any better.
Proud of the lads done the best we could against an excellent side. @LucasMoura7 @Serge_aurier @JTanganga99 excellent today along with @daosanchez26 @AlderweireldTob need to build on this now need to boost the team up with some new players but we will get there again. COYS

The former Spurs captain also singled out Serge Aurier for how much the defender has improved under Mourinho. The Ivorian has come under a lot of criticism from some fans for his defensive lapses but Roberts claimed that there was now a huge difference in his performances.
Have to say sometimes @Serge_aurier over the last year taken some stick for positional sense and effort but really doing well under Jose keep it going serge fans all behind you really can see a huge difference. ?

Spurs Web Opinion
There has been a lot of clamour among Spurs fans lately about our defenders not being good enough. I felt both Alderweireld and Sanchez proved on Saturday that they were up there with the best in the world while Tanganga showed why he is rated so highly at the club. I am not convinced that we need to invest in a centre back this window as I believe there are other positions that we need to prioritize.
