Tottenham legend Graham Roberts has pleaded with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale to return to North London.
The Express reported earlier this week that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was working around the clock to get a deal for Bale done before Friday’s transfer deadline.
A report in the Daily Mail also claimed that Real Madrid and Spurs were negotiating on a deal that would take Bale back to the Premier League.
However, both reports concluded that the deal was unlikely due the Real Madrid’s star’s current £600,000-per-week wages.
It is suggested that the Spanish giants are keen to get rid of the Welsh international but any hopes of a deal would likely rest on Bale agreeing to take a substantial pay cut.
Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett earlier dismissed speculation over a return to Spurs by describing the rumours to the Daily Mail as “cr*p”.
Roberts, however, feels that the 30-year-old could consider being on reduced wages as long as he discovers his love for football again at Tottenham.

Spurs Web Opinion
With a little over a day left in the transfer market, a return for Bale certainly doesn’t look on the cards. What is much more concerning is the fact that we don’t seem to be close to completing a deal for any striker. We desperately need to sign a centre forward if we are to have any shot of finishing in the top four.
