Graham Roberts takes to Twitter to urge Spurs man to sign new contract

Graham Roberts has urged Heung-Min Son to “hurry up” and sign a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

The South Korean scored his 100th goal in all competitions for the North London club when he latched on to a Harry Kane pass to put Spurs 2-0 ahead against Leeds United yesterday afternoon (transfermarkt).

Son’s current contract expires in 2023 with Jose Mourinho claiming last month that the striker wants to spend the rest of his playing career with the club but acknowledged that the impact of coronavirus has impacted negotiations (Sky Sports).

After a tough start to life at Tottenham following his £22million move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, he has become a firm fan favourite (BBC).

Roberts congratulated the 28-year-old on reaching the milestone on social media and is looking forward to him putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

If Spurs can tie down Son to a new deal it would represent a significant step in the right direction if the club are serious about challenging for major honours on a regular basis, at 28, we are starting to see Son enter his prime this season.
