Graham Roberts tips Spurs pair to potentially move to Newcastle in January

Graham Roberts has revealed that he expects Newcastle to make a January move for out of favour Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Harry Winks.

The Magpies, fresh off their Saudi-led takeover, are said to have made Alli, 25, one of their transfer targets, while Winks has also been linked with a potential move in the winter window.

Despite finding himself in a regular starting role under now-departed manager Nuno Espirito Santo at the start of the season, Alli has only found himself present among the substitutes of late.

Most recently, he featured for just over 15 minutes in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Winks has been left out of Tottenham’s last three match-day squads altogether and has been limited to a handful of appearances in the Europa Conference League.

With the future of the pair looking increasingly uncertain at Spurs, club legend Roberts believes they could be primed for a move as early as January, and he sees Newcastle as their next destination.

When quizzed on who could depart for Newcastle in the winter, he told This Is Futbol: “I think Harry Winks, maybe Dele Alli, they’ve got a lot to prove to people so it’s a good start for them.”

Winks appears to have lost out altogether and is in definite need of a change of scenery, but Alli is drifting in and out of the side still. Ideally, they both should look to secure a move away, as it is becoming clearer that they are no longer progressing at Spurs.
