‘Grateful’ – Albert Gudmundsson sends potential transfer hint amid links to Spurs

Tottenham target Albert Gudmundsson has perhaps sent a hint that he will be leaving Genoa at the end of the season by stating that he is thankful for how the club’s fans have supported him over the years.

Various Italian outlets have suggested over recent days that Tottenham are one of the leading contenders to secure Gudmundsson’s services this summer.

This includes a recent update by Primo Canale, who claimed that Spurs are ‘moving to most’ to sign the attacking midfielder ahead of other Serie A suitors.

Gudmundsson breaks silence amid Spurs links

The 26-year-old himself has now thrown a hint over his future, by thanking the Genoa fans and admitting that he is trying to enjoy every moment at the club.

Gudmundsson told Sport Mediaset: “I will always be grateful to Genoa and its fans. I continue to think about match after match, I enjoy every moment on the pitch trying to entertain the fans as well.”

The publication points out that the Iceland international’s quotes sound like a goodbye and adds that Genoa are willing to trigger a ‘real auction’ for the player in the summer, with the Serie A club said to be hoping to raise €40m (£34.3m) from his sale.

Sport Mediaset set also asserts that despite interest from both Juventus and Inter Milan, it is Spurs who are ‘above all’ in the race for Gudmundsson.
