David James has praised Eric Dier as being a great ambassador for Tottenham following the defender’s comments about Harry Kane and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Kane’s poor run of form continued this week, with the striker being on the end of plenty of criticism for a lacklustre display for England against Hungary.

The 28-year-old has insisted that despite what is being said about his run of form, he is in a ‘good place’ mentally.

Meanwhile, Nuno has also come under a lot of pressure in his first few months at Tottenham. Reports emerged last week that several senior Tottenham stars are unhappy with the Portuguese coach’s methods and his style of communication.

Dier put those rumours to bed this week as he insisted in an interview with Sky Sports that the Spurs players are keen to ‘learn’ from Nuno and they ‘understand’ what he wants.

The centre-back also said that he is not worried about Kane’s form and backed the striker to prove his doubters wrong once again.

Reacting to Dier’s interview, James told Sky Sports News (14/10/21 at 11:20 am): “From the way he was speaking, he’s a great ambassador for that football club, isn’t he? No problems. And things are going to get better.

“Like Harry Kane, he is one of these players who is an intrinsic part of Tottenham’s fabric and very much needed if Spurs are going to achieve what Nuno is trying to set out to do.

“And to get Tottenham challenging for the Champions League qualification and success.”

Dier is certainly Tottenham through and through and it is a shame that he seems to get so much stick from Spurs fans on social media.

Whatever one might think of his ability, he always wears his heart on his sleeve and he is one of the real leaders we have in the dressing room.
