‘Great opportunity’ – Paul Merson offers his Spurs v Forest score prediction

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest this afternoon.

Tottenham host Steve Cooper’s side in N17 in what is a key match for both sides with the north Londoners looking to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive while Forest are keen to move further away from the drop zone.

Last time out, Merson incorrectly predicted that Tottenham would draw 1-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers, when in fact, they fell to a 1-0 defeat to further complicate their aspirations of another season of Champions League football.

Spurs did themselves no favour in midweek when they failed to threaten AC Milan’s 1-0 scoreline advantage during the second leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to exit the competition with a whimper.

Frustration among the fanbase has been growing over the past couple of weeks after the FA Cup defeat at Sheffield United, which appeared to be Tottenham’s best chance of winning silverware this season having been squandered after the decision to start with Harry Kane on the bench backfired.

Merson told SportsKeeda: “Nottingham Forest are awful away from home. Unless they sort out their away form, they are in huge trouble. They need to start getting results on the road.

Nottingham have earned just three points away from home this season. As a Premier League side, you’ve got to do better than that.

Tottenham Hotspur fell to Wolves in their latest outing but they’ve got a great opportunity to bounce back and regain their confidence here.

“Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Nottingham Forest.”

It is hard to guess which verdict of Tottenham will turn up this afternoon, given the inconsistent displays which the fans have had to witness all season.

The home fans are restless and will expect nothing less than a victory and a solid performance, otherwise the chorus calling for the return of Mauricio Pochettino will only grow louder.
