‘Great pleasure and honour’ – Conte gives long answer about humility of Heung-min Son

Antonio Conte has admitted he is honoured to be able to work with Heung-min Son at Tottenham and wants to see the forward win the Premier League Golden Boot award.

Son has been in imperious form for Spurs this season and has emerged as the club’s leading scorer in the top flight after last term’s productive campaign.

The South Korea international has netted 19 goals which places him just three behind current leader in Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah with four games remaining (BBC Sport).

And with Tottenham being immersed in a key battle with Arsenal to grab the final Champions League spot, Conte has offered plenty of praise to Son ahead of his side’s trip to Liverpool on Saturday.

The Italian expressed his fortune at being able to work alongside Son and hailed the 29-year-old’s humility in keeping spirits high at the N17-based club.

Conte said (via Football.London): “In this team, for sure Sonny we are talking one of the best players in this team.

“To score goals and have a good performance, only one player can change the life of the team and for this reason I think Sonny is giving a lot to the team and the team is giving a lot to him to support him and score goals.

“We are talking about a really good guy, I see him every day and he is a humble guy and is always with a smile on his face.

“To be his coach is a great pleasure and honour but it is important personal target but the most important thing is to try and match a personal target with a great achievement for the team.”

Son has been excellent for long stretches this season and you can see just how much he cares about the team as they are helping him get on the scoresheet consistently.

He is one of those players that is happy doing what he does which will no doubt rub off onto the other players in the dressing room, which makes him such an important asset even without his football ability.
