‘Growing feeling’ – Ben Jacobs makes interesting claim about Spurs’ hunt for a Sporting Director

Journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Tottenham Hotspur could raid one of their Premier League rivals to fill their sporting director vacancy.

It has now been almost two months since Fabio Paratici resigned from his role as Tottenham’s managing director of football after his worldwide 30-month ban was upheld.

Many would have expected the Lilywhites to fill that vacancy first before hiring a new head coach but the opposite has materialised, with the Lilywhites confirming Ange Postecoglou as their manager last week.

All indications now are that the North London club’s hierarchy are already pressing forward with their recruitment plans for the summer even though they do not have a sporting director in place.

It was suggested by journalist Dean Jones on GiveMeSport a couple of weeks ago that Spurs’ pursuit of a new director might be further along than the media have caught on.

However, as things stand, it does not seem as though the Lilywhites are on the verge of appointing anyone.

Spurs may look towards Premier League for new sporting director

Jacobs has now suggested that the ‘growing feeling’ in footballing circles is that Daniel Levy and co might be targeting someone who is employed by another Premier League club.

The journalist said on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube Channel: “There is a growing feeling that Tottenham may look within the Premier League for their next sporting director, which could be one to watch.”

Tottenham had been previously been linked with a move for Brentford’s Lee Dykes as a potential replacement for Paratici (Daily Mail).

Perhaps Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy have identified their top target and are prepared to wait to get him rather than settling for someone else.

If Tottenham have made progress in their talks with the candidate in question, they have somehow managed to keep it completely under wraps, with no media outlet having caught on to their pursuit.
