Gudjohnsen praises Redknapp for substitute decisions

Eidur Gudjohnsen praised Harry Redknapp’s substitution decisions as Tottenham beat Fulham 3-1.

It was a different story at half time when Spurs went into the break a goal down, but the Spurs boss brought in David Bentley, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Tom Huddlestone to turn around their fortunes and put in an impressive second half display.

Bentley, Pavlyuchenko and Gudjohnsen were all on target to help Spurs book their FA Cup semi-final date with Portsmouth.

“I was well happy with his last substitution (Pavlyuchenko), it’s a risky one putting another striker on but it worked,” Gudjohnsen told ITV.

“I thought it was a fantastic decision and with David getting a goal early in the second half it gave us a great boost.

“I thought the whole team pressed forward really well after that and we won the game.”

  1. Though I've had concerns about 'Arry's tactical nouse in the past, I must admit that he pulled of a masterstroke at half-time tonight — subs and a possible bollocking (or whatever he did) completely changed the game for us. Some great results for us elsewhere tonight too! Can't wait for the run-in — FA Cup semi-final, Chelsea, Man Utd, and Arsenal on the bounce, and in with a chance of some real glory. It's great to be nearing the end of the season with two ambitions to play for — after years of watching us play out the end of season in holiday mode (before Jol) COYS!

  2. Great display from the lads tonight true grit coming from a goal down and not playing so well in the first half and other results going our way in the league. Still have work to do though we haven’t won anything yet. First things first we have to somehow fashion a team from what we have left of the squad,(hoping no one else is banged up looks like Vedran Corluka is out for Saturday and Bassong) and consolidate our position by beating Portsmouth. Three points Saturday is a must for us. Can’t believe it for the first time in donkeys we are in control of our destiny would be sweet if we had some of our players back and we didn’t have three tough fixtures back to back which is why Saturday is so important. But we must not take Pompey for granted. But didn’t we look good for large parts of the second half? Is it just me or did BAE look bit suspect tonight? What a ball in from Bentley to score, what a ball in from Bentley to Pav to score Eider was good too. Inspired substitutions Harry. Sleep well tonight. Lillywhitetilidie.

  3. I am absolutely thrilled with Spurs’ victory last night. What a strong striking force we were during the second half when we controlled the midfield with Huddlestone coming in and defended well till the end. I must say ‘well done, Harry, for turning the match around in that second half in bringing in ‘new blood’ like Pav, Bentley and Huddlestone. May this great victory boost our confidence further, despite our injury woes, in winning against Pompey and other matches to follow. They are now really living up to their motto: “AUDERE EST FACERE” or “TO DARE IS TO DO”.
