Guglielmo Vicario doubles down on Ange Postecoglou support ahead of Tottenham’s biggest night

Guglielmo Vicario has now thrown his support behind Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham prepare for their Europa League decider against Bodo/Glimt.

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up to play one of the most crucial games of their 2024/25 season against Bodo/Glimt in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final tie.

Spurs managed to secure a comfortable two-goal advantage in the first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to an early strike from Brennan Johnson, with James Maddison and Dominic Solanke adding the second and third goals respectively.

However, that three-goal cushion was reduced after Glimt’s Saltness grabbed a late goal for the Norwegian side, giving them a glimmer of hope heading into the return leg.

Guglielmo Vicario backs Ange Postecoglou ahead of Europa League semi-final

The task at hand for Spurs on Thursday is quite straightforward, as the Lilywhites need to pick up a draw, win, or avoid a defeat by a three-goal margin if they are to progress to the finals.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, speaking ahead of the clash, has now publicly backed Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou ahead of the crunch Europa League tie.

Postecoglou has been under fire for most of the 2024/25 season, with Spurs struggling domestically and currently sitting in the bottom five of the Premier League table.

Vicario believes that the players have always supported the Australian since he took charge of Tottenham two years ago. He has insisted that the squad remains committed to the Spurs boss.

He told football.london: “Yeah, I think we always back him, since two years ago when he started his job, and we are really committed on what we have to do.

“We know exactly which is our way of football and we always believed in, what Ange gave us during this period. Nothing’s changed, to be fair, of course, we went through two rounds, hopefully we’re going to do it again tomorrow.”

Spurs squad continue to show unity behind Postecoglou

Vicario is not the only Tottenham player to back Ange Postecoglou in recent weeks, as James Maddison also stated last week that the Tottenham players are 100 per cent behind the manager.

The Tottenham boss himself came out late last month and spoke about the backing he has received from those within the club.

Postecoglou stated that even in the toughest times this year, he has had people behind him and that they believe in what he is trying to do.

He said: “I have said many times that you talk to any manager and it can be very isolating in tough times if you feel like you are the only one, sort of, in the boat rowing in one direction.

“I have never felt that, even in the toughest times this year, I have just felt people are behind me and they believe in what we are trying to do.”

Of course, this is the type of team spirit that is needed if Tottenham are to reach their European ambitions this season, with silverware now very much within their grasp.
