As Tottenham prepares for a crucial Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has spoken out about the squad’s commitment to Ange Postecoglou and the importance of unity heading into Thursday’s tie.
Tottenham’s season has been a frustrating one. Their Premier League form reflects this, with the Lilywhites sitting 13th after losing 14 of their first 28 matches.
Injuries have played a significant role in their struggles. However, in recent weeks, Spurs have welcomed several key players back from the treatment room. Despite this, results remain inconsistent.
February provided a glimpse of hope, as Postecoglou’s side won three of their four league fixtures that month. But just as it seemed they had turned a corner, familiar problems resurfaced. They are now winless in their last three games.

Guglielmo Vicario backs Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou
On Thursday, Tottenham face AZ Alkmaar, the side that handed them a 1-0 defeat last week in the Europa League. It is a high-stakes encounter.
A loss would all but end their season, given their poor league form and early exits from the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. For Postecoglou, it is a chance to prove he is the right man to lead this team forward.
While some Spurs supporters remain divided over the manager, Vicario has no doubts about his belief in the system. The goalkeeper spoke to football.london about Postecoglou’s philosophy and the squad’s faith in his methods.
He said: “I can say his approach has been very committed since the day he arrived. He delivered to us the way to play the game because he truly believes in it, and we can be successful this way.
“We are fully behind him and very committed to doing that. I think we have proved that when we are 100% focused and committed, we can show what we are capable of.”
The importance of togetherness for Spurs vs AZ Alkmaar
Looking ahead to Thursday’s match, Vicario also emphasised the need for unity between players and fans.
He continued: “We have to deliver. We know exactly what we are going to face. I think tomorrow the best version of Spurs is with togetherness, with us on the pitch and the fans in the stands.”
That sense of togetherness is something that captain Heung-min Son has also stressed. Son has urged his teammates to work harder rather than rely solely on their talent.
Spurs have home advantage, and if they show the right attitude and fight, the Tottenham faithful will back them all the way.
