A familiar face returned in goal during Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 win against Manchester United. Guglielmo Vicario has now shared what is like to return after three months. The Spurs number one also revealed why he loves playing under Ange Postecoglou.

A return to Premier League action for Guglielmo Vicario
Before Tottenham Hotspur took on Manchester United, manager Ange Postecoglou revealed that a few of his injured players were expected to return on Sunday.
That proved to be the case as we saw Vicario, Odobert, Maddison, Brennan Johnson and Destiny Udogie make it into the squad.
However, it was just two of the five, that made it into the starting XI – Guglielmo Vicario was named as the starting goalkeeper, while James Maddison returned to midfield.
Indeed, the Lilywhites emerged victorious as an early James Maddison strike was enough for Postecoglou’s men to secure all three points.

Guglielmo Vicario on his return to Premier League action
It was all smiles for Guglielmo Vicario, who made his first start for the Lilywhites, after spending three months on the sidelines following surgery on his ankle back in November.
Vicario told the Premier League: “You know at the beginning after three months with two screws in an ankle, maybe sometimes you feel, I don’t know if you’re ready but it has been I can say another debut because after a big injury it’s like a new debut so I’m very happy to help the team.
“It has been eleven weeks of tough work and surgery to deal with this setback. It was my first big injury of my career so just believing in the hard work.
“I love to be the keeper of this football club and for this manager because he’s trying to do and deliver not average performances of football.
“He’s trying to do something different, something special. Sometimes, of course, we can lose games of football because it is a sport, you play it against an opponent, they are the same level as you but of course for me today it’s a big day. I’m very glad to be back with the team.”

Vicario’s stats against Manchester United
Despite being out for three months, the Italian shot-stopper carried on from where he left off when he picked up a clean sheet against Manchester City back in November.
It was a repeat performance. With the 28-year-old making saves with both his hands and feet. His saves kept Spurs in the game and ultimately helped them get a much-needed win.
| Stat | Value |

The shot-stopper would be hoping to build on this performance next week when he goes up against relegation-threatened Ipswich Town.
