Guillem Balague speaks on Pochettino’s proposed move to Newcastle

Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, reveals that he has spoken to Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles about his reported Pochettino comments.

Ardiles was reported to have said last week that Pochettino has spoken to Newcastle and that taking over in the North East was a firm option for the former Tottenham boss (Mirror).

However, the ex-Spurs player then revealed on Twitter that the quotes were inaccurate.

Pochettino has been heavily linked with the Newcastle United job of late with reports indicating that the Argentine is the preferred choice of the club’s prospective new owners (Sky Sports).

In fact, Le10Sport have even suggested that Pochettino is very close to being appointed the next Newcastle manager after holding extensive talks with the club.

The Argentine further fuelled the speculation surrounding his future by recently implying that he is open to taking over a job outside the top six (Sky Sports).

However, after talking with Ardiles, Balague has now revealed that the Spurs legend denied knowing anything about the 48-year-old’s situation.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, the journalist said: “I spoke to Ossie and he said nothing of the sort. What he said was ‘talk to Pochettino. Don’t ask me about this’.

“Secondly I imagine he’ll speak to whoever is interested. Thirdly, Ossie said ‘I’ve no idea if Newcastle have spoken to him’.”
