‘Gung-ho football match’ – Paul Merson predicts his winner between Spurs and Arsenal

Paul Merson has been looking ahead to the big North London derby this weekend, and the former Arsenal man believes the Gunners will come out on top in what will be a ‘hard game’ for both sides.

The North London derby is always the biggest game in the footballing calendar for Tottenham and Arsenal, but this upcoming clash could well be the most important we’ve seen in years.

As things stand, Ange Postecoglou‘s men need all the points they can get in order to secure fourth place in the Premier League, and grab a place in next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are at the top of the table and looking to secure their first league title since 2004. They currently have a one-point lead over Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.

The midfield battle will be key to North London derby

A win for Spurs on Sunday could be crucial in ending Arsenal’s chances of beating City in that race, but Paul Merson can’t see it happening. In fact, he thinks Arsenal will get the win, and it’s all down to their strength in midfield.

He told The Spurs Chat Podcast: “Score? I think Arsenal win and I only say that because I think Arsenal’s midfield is stronger than Tottenham’s.

“I think it will be a gung-ho football match where Arsenal have a shot and Spurs have a shot, but I think Arsenal’s midfield… Arsenal just win the game. It will be a hard game.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is going to be a very entertaining game, that’s for sure. As for who will win, I’ve no idea, but I just really want Spurs to go for it and give it everything. We have to show lots of aggression and passion and make life difficult for Arsenal, and then anything is possible.
