According to all the internet speculation this evening it appears as if Gylfi Sigurdsson is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have emerged as strong favourites to sign the Hoffenheim midfielder who impressed during his loan spell at Swansea last season.
Sigurdsson was expected to join the Swans on a permanent deal until manager Brendan Rodgers decided to move to Liverpool – with Rodgers has admitting he would be interested in bringing the Iceland international to Anfield.
An £8million fee has been mentioned and is expected to be tied up by the end of the week, but the player has yet to agree personal terms. Spurs fans who decide to take this with a pinch of salt are within their reasons after the Jan Vertonghen debacle which has unfolded over the past few days.
Let’s just file this one under, “wait and see”.
